A12.2.01.202 Lig. arteriosum In the published book (Thieme 1998), this entry had a second term in parentheses (ductus arteriosus). The absence of a preceding semicolon and presence of parentheses indicated that the term is not a synonym for ligamentum arteriosum, and that this ductus is an inconstant structure. A new entry has been created for this inconstant structure, A12.2.01.221 ductus arteriosus persistens.
A12.2.01.221 Ductus arteriosus persistens This new entry was created by separating this term for an inconstant structure from the entry A12.2.01.202 ligamentum arteriosum. A ductus arteriosus persistens represents the persistence of a fetal blood shunt that normally closes in the immediate postnatal period.
